Here’s the first look at the $330 million Coca-Cola Bottling campus: A gateway to Birmingham

Coca-Cola United announced details of its planned new campus today after getting approval for incentives from the Jefferson County Commission.

The new campus on the former Stockham Valves property will cost in excess of $330 million and take three years to complete, Coca Cola United officials said.

After the vote, Coca-Cola Bottling Company United, Inc. officially announced its estimated $330 million investment in a “new, multifaceted Birmingham Coca-Cola facility in the Kingston community that is expected to create up to 50 new jobs and retain more than 750 jobs in the Magic City.”

Beverage campus from Red Bull, others at former Philip Morris site in Concord could start soon

Construction on the massive Concord beverage manufacturing campus from Red Bull, Rauch North America and Ball Corp. has been delayed. The nearly $1.5 billion project at The Grounds at Concord could soon ramp up again.

Red Bull, Rauch and Ball were approved for updated incentives in late 2022 as they planned a $400 million increase in investment for the project. The beverage campus was initially announced in July 2021 with planned investments totaling more than $1.1 billion. The project remains the largest economic development announcement in Cabarrus County history.

It will occupy around 500 acres at The Grounds, the former Philip Morris manufacturing site.

Genpak LLC Boosts Montgomery’s Manufacturing Sector with $22.8 Million Facility Expansion

— Genpak LLC, a trailblazer in foodservice packaging manufacturing, celebrated its significant expansion alongside state, local, and community leaders with a grand re-opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony at its 400,000-square-foot Hope Hull manufacturing facility on Wednesday. The investment of $22.8 million not only reaffirms the company’s commitment to its 145 existing employees but also paves the way for 155 new job opportunities.

“The U.S. food packaging sector is experiencing a notable surge, and it’s with great enthusiasm that we see Genpak furthering its growth in Alabama. The company is seizing this upward trend through its expansive manufacturing and distribution center in Montgomery,” stated Ellen McNair, Alabama Department of Commerce Secretary. “The economic effects of this development are expected to be substantial for the local region.”

Genpak’s commitment to Montgomery is reinforced by Alabama’s focus on nurturing a sustainable supply chain and its strategic location, which offers swift, direct access to markets in the Southeast. Situated at the Hope Hull exit along Interstate 65, the newly renovated facility is located in the rapidly expanding Montgomery Industrial Park.

Mayor Steven L. Reed celebrated Genpak’s decision to reinvest in Montgomery, highlighting the city’s indispensable role in the food service industry through this partnership. “Genpak’s commitment is a clear affirmation of Montgomery’s strategic importance to this sector,” he stated. “We are not just excited but deeply committed to strengthening this partnership that has stood the test of time. Located in Montgomery since 1982, Genpak has been a key supplier and innovator of food service packaging solutions to U.S. eateries. The facility recently completed safety enhancements and operational upgrades for heightened efficiency, which will allow for rapid expansion. The ribbon-cutting event marked the facility’s re-opening, reaffirming its vital role in delivering packaging solutions to the restaurant sector across North America and stepping into a new role as a distribution hub.

Doug Singleton, Chairman of the Montgomery County Commission, conveyed his profound pride in recognizing Genpak’s expansion within the county. “This significant development not only honors us but also solidifies our reputation as a pivotal industrial center in the Southeastern United States,” he stated. “Genpak’s growth is a testament to our thriving economic environment and our strategic position as a leader in the industry.
