Kentucky Distillers’ Association details bourbon industry’s $9B economic impact

The Kentucky Distillers’ Association (KDA) held its 2024 Bourbon Economic Impact Announcement on Tuesday — and shared a fresh round of statistics that point to the bourbon boom continuing at full steam.

“Bourbon is America’s native spirit, and even during a time when Kentucky’s whole economy is on fire, this industry continues to play a unique and enormous role in driving our economy and representing Kentucky to the rest of the world,” Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear told the crowd. “When I was a kid, if you asked folks across the globe about Kentucky, they’d probably talk to you about chicken. Now, they most certainly talk to you about bourbon. … Bourbon’s success continues to help so many Kentucky families, and that momentum has no sign of slowing.”

Beshear was one of many elected officials who gathered in the State Reception Room of the Kentucky State Capitol in Frankfort for the KDA’s economic impact announcement, which was streamed on the organization’s Facebook page.

The 2023 report, titled “The Economic & Fiscal Impacts of the Distilling Industry in Kentucky,” valued the collective economic impact at $9 billion.
